Good Fortune for Javier Fortuna
An entertaining boxing match tonight on Showtime given by Javier Fortuna and Abner Cotto had lots of punching, trash talking, fouls and both fighters on the floor before an actual knock out. Fortuna and Cotto have good boxing skills, but they both seemed to take a while to find their rhythm.
Fortuna dropped his hands and appeared to be comfortable, but he was tagged several times by Cotto who at times showed an effective jab. Cotto landed good punches and was trying to find Fortuna, a lefty, that was throwing hard punches from different angles.
In the fourth round, Cotto landed three low blows on Fortuna. The third one dropped Fortuna and he needed some recovery time. At the end of the round, Cotto may have said a few things and followed Fortuna to his corner. Fortuna responded with a spinning hook that just missed Cotto.
When the crowed reacted and Cotto began walking back to his corner, Cotto's coach told him to get to throw himself to the floor in Spanish. That move got a point taken away from Fortuna and possibly an Oscar for best acting performance.
In the fifth round, Fortuna came out aggressively. Although his arms seem to be away from his body, which takes off power from punches, he sat on his punches and landed hard shots. Cotto went down after a hard left hook by Fortuna and was unable to beat the count.
Keep an eye out for Fortuna who was the fortunate one in this fight. He is fiery, hungry and strong. This is his 19th KO in 28 fights. He has one draw and one no-contest.
I just checked. Ring Magazine already posted an article about this fight :) Damn, they are fast.
